Digital Photography Backgrounds?
I am considering adding a green screen and software to my equipment list. However I currently do not use PS to edit. I have no reason as to why other than it has been years since I have purchased or used PS. I have noticed that most digital backgrounds require PS. Does anyone no of any software that works with iphoto? Or do I need to just breakdown and buy PS and get trained? Thanks in advance for the advice.
I would seriously try to arrange a demonstration before you spend any money on digital backgrounds. Even with very high resolution CCD sensor based cameras there is around a 2/3 pixel error on everything that appears in front of the chroma key screen. Use a CMOS based sensor and this increases to around 1.5 pixel error. This is enough to make the picture look fake before you even start! If you can restrict the number of back drops you need it's much better to maybe get custom printed ones - they really are not that expensive - your props are likely to be costing you more! As for using a chroma keyy background with iPhoto, well it would need to manage layers. It can't do this and so the answer is no. GiMP or Photoshop Elements should be sufficient to do this, Photoshop CS5 is probably overkill if this is all you are intending to do. *Adobe seems to repositioning Lightroom with version 4, so that may be well worth looking at!
